The situation
The winery is located in the heart of the Salnés Valley, a region or sub-zone belonging to the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin.
The climate
The Rias Baixas are located in Galicia, a region in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, on the Atlantic coast. It has a very humid climate, with moderate rainfall of more than 1,500 mm per year. Temperatures are generally mild, with little difference between day and night, and in turn with more than 2,000 hours of sunshine, making this region a climatological paradise that promotes an individuality that only these vineyards can produce.
Soils
Coarse, sandy texture, with a high content of siliceous stone particles and very low clay content. They are acidic, permeable, shallow to medium deep and with the subsoil bedrock in the process of decomposition.
The vineyards
At Laureatus we make our wines exclusively with 100% Albariño grapes from our own vineyards, which is why daily care and attention to detail and absolute control of the entire process are the essence of our winery.
Our vineyards, some of which are almost 50 years old, face south-southwest, which provides them with ideal sunlight throughout the day, thus favouring optimum ripening of the grapes. The vines are trained using the traditional vine training system with the grapes 1.80 metres above the ground to prevent rotting and facilitate aeration.
